New/Old Job

Well, this week I went back to being a librarian again. Or at least a librarian who actually deals with books and people, as opposed to computers and people. And so far I have found it to be extremely enjoyable. I had forgotten how fun being a real librarian actually was. I do not have regrets about my 9 year foray into the world of computer instruction because it taught me a lot about myself and improved my skills greatly. But I do remember from times past that I always took the greatest pleasure in my job as a reference librarian when I matched someone up with the right book. There is just such a measure of satisfaction in that. So here's to being a librarian again! Yeah!

It is so good to have you here! I really hope we get to work the desk together at some point.

The whole concept of "real librarian" kind of breaks my brain because I know, dealing with the technology so much, I sometimes don't feel "real" either, and I miss all that refdesk time I used to get. Still, the not-so-librariany parts of your jobs are still real...and will become more "librariany" every day, I'm thinking! At least, I hope...

JMHO, YMMV. ;)
